Stephane Daoust
Born in Montreal, Stephane Daoust is among the first EV pioneers in Canada. Now located in Shawinigan, he joined the industry in 2012, launching the first charging station between Montreal and Quebec city, in Trois-Rivières. He joined Kent Rathwell and the Sun Country Highway team later that year.
His long and diversificated career started 36 years ago, selling ice cream on a bike. Recognized for his leadership and creativity, the natural born innovator developed talents in many fields such as digital media and communication, business development, web and telecom, politics, philanthropy and the cultural industry. Since the age of 19, he produced or was involved in hundreds of music production or corporate events. Stephane made more than 1200 musical performances across the province with crowds from 50 to 3200 people, like in his local arena where he played for 12 nights in the 2022-23 local hockey team season.
With Kent, he co funded Éco Route Quebec in 2013 as a french sister company for SCH. The startup helped electrify the first Quebec roads and quickly got the attention among industry leaders such as Quebecor, Desjardins and many municipalities. Later that year, he accomplished the first EV tour of New-Brunswick after installing 20 free charging stations, sponsored by SCH, in a month. In 2014, in collaboration with municipalities from the Ile d’Orlean region,16 charging stations were installed creating an island with the most EV chargers per capita in Canada.
In summer 2015, he created and managed a Tesla destinations program in Quebec for SCH. Called Anxiété Zéro (Zero Anxiety), the 3 months project resulted in 20 new charging locations in municipalities and local businesses with the focus to secure the roads between the Quebec South regions and the United-States.
A true EV believer, his knowledge of the industry gets updated daily with many hours looking for new information and innovations. His long term vision allows Stephane to find new products at their prototype stage and negotiate distributing agreements with startups like Neo Charge and EvSens.
Creativity is the most valuable asset in Stephane’s life. From 1992 to now, he worked in the video and audio production industry acquiring many skills. In 1997, he became one of the first 100 students in Quebec to obtain a government diploma in a new program called Multimedia and Internet. He launched Point Comme Communications in 1998, the first internet creative agency in his town. The company was sold in 1999 to a local IT developer where Stephane helped to create their Web department. Summer 2000, he joined ONX inc as a Creative Director. Working with customers like Bombardier, Election Canada and Government of Canada, he was hired to create and manage the first web department for 3 canadian eastern offices,
After September 11, Stephane came back full time to Shawinigan and worked with various local organizations as project and sales manager. In 2005, he launched a new digital photography agency collaborating with municipalities, government, large corporations and tourism customers. Late 2006, he invested in a recording studio facility that he still operates for his personal and business needs.
Then in 2012 came the EV vision.
